Affordable, appropriately clean for the price-range, great view of the creek from the top floor, quiet in the evening. Breakfast was not extraordinary, but again, great at the price range. I can think of a few $500 stays that did not include breakfast; Brookside did. I had a fantastic stay here with my family, with close proximity to everything I wanted to see in Gatlinburg.

This place was a great way to get away for the weekend with the wife. Rooms were clean and a little dated but love the fireplace room overlooking the creek and the rushing water. Continental breakfast was great especially not having to spend more money on breakfast every morning. Front desk was great and told us a couple local places they recommended away from some of the crouds.

I just spent a full week at this hotel and thoroughly enjoyed my stay. Even though it is an older hotel, there’s something quite nostalgic about it. I hate the ultra modern look of most hotels nowadays and this particular hotel takes you back in time when life was much more simple. I love the stone fireplace and the old wooden paneling on the walls. Then I absolutely love the little balconies that overlook the river that runs right next to the hotel. Every single night I slept with the patio door open just because the sound of the river was so relaxing. The overall customer service was also excellent, and everyone that worked there seemed extremely kind. I’ll definitely be back.

Our room had trouble with the door, I'm hoping it was just our specific room. You had to aggressively jiggle it to actually open it. Otherwise, the rooms were clean, a few stink bugs in the evenings but my wife and I camp so we're fairly used to chill bugs as long as they aren't flying all over the place. We were given a complimentary gift bag on the way in, the complementary breakfast was great, the pool was unfortunately closed (we stayed in beginning of March) but otherwise a nice, inexpensive place to stay. We got the fireplace king room. (we didn't use the fireplace lol) There is also a Gatlinburg Shuttle stop right in front of the office.

I’m a bit torn because overall I really enjoyed my stay here. The location was great—I loved being away from the heavy downtown traffic, and we were able to walk everywhere without any issues. The staff were friendly, and the service was excellent. My only real gripe was with some aspects of the facilities. None of these were deal-breakers or ruined the trip, but they did cause some inconvenience. For example, all the ice machines on every floor appeared to be out of service, so I had to buy a bag of ice for the room. The doors in our unit were also problematic: some didn’t seal well and let cold air in, while the porch door required a very hard pull to open. The biggest issue we ran into was with the bathroom sink. The P-trap wasn’t connected to the sink. We learned this the hard way—normal water flow was fine, but when I poured a large cup of water into the sink, it caused water to spill all over the bathroom floor, creating a mess I had to clean up. That said, everything else in the unit worked beautifully. The wall unit A/C-heater worked perfectly, the fireplace was amazing, the shower was excellent, and the furnishings were comfortable and serviceable. There was also plenty of space. As for the exterior, the only negative I noticed was the lighting. Many of the overhead and door-side fixtures didn’t appear to be working, so at night you’re walking in near darkness aside from the parking lot and street lights. Most of the post lights were also out, though most of the creekside walkway lights were functioning. Overall, these were small issues. The stay was still very relaxing and enjoyable, and I would absolutely stay here again without hesitation. The property is older, but I was looking for something rustic—and that’s exactly what we got. It just needs a little more TLC. I hope to be back again this year and would gladly book the same place. 4 stars from me because we still left with smiles on our faces

The great out weighs the negative. This location is awesome, right out of the business, yet right down the street from the action. The staff have been amazing, helpful as well as all the guest. The bear here is awesome as well; we see him every day. The pool and hot tub were great. The right temp, always clean and relaxing with the waterfall into the pool. The rooms are huge, the bathtub is huge, the shower hot and water pressure just right. There are very nice pictures on the walls, it had a lot of nice touches and great concept. My husband and I enjoyed sitting by the river at night, the grounds appear to be updated, have swings, benches, fire pits and trollys to pick u up to go downtown. The experience, location, outside activities and friendliness gives this a 5 star for us. With that said, there are some areas that need improvement, up dating and cleaning. If u like camping you will like it here.

The location of the hotel is totally worth the money, we stayed for two nights from Nov 22-24. We saw a bear at the stream behind the hotel from our balcony which was pretty cool! Free breakfast Parking was $10 a night. Pay cash or card. Front desk staff was nice the two ladies upon check in. Cades cove is about an hour drive from the hotel definitely recommend that if you like Mountain View’s and wildlife. Photography was amazing for the views.
